I started my business in a bathtub.
My name is Sheena Howard and in November 2020, I did something a little unconventional — I started my nursing business from my bathtub.
I had just walked away from a job that was draining the life out of me, demanding too much and offering too little in return. I knew deep down that I needed to create something that honored my skills and let me live life on my own terms.
People told me, “Nurses can’t have their own businesses.” But I didn’t listen. Instead, I trusted my gut.
That same day, I whipped up a simple Canva image that said, “Accepting New Clients,” and posted it on Facebook. Just like that, Acceptance Nurse Psychotherapy was born.
Fast forward to today: I’m the proud owner of Canada’s only Nurse Psychotherapy Clinic exclusively staffed by nurse psychotherapists. We have no waitlists, a full-time Clinic Administrator, and I only work two days a week — leaving plenty of time for my kids and the things I love.
Along the way, I’ve picked up some awards and accolades, but what matters most is helping other nurses follow their dreams. That’s why I started BizNurse Savvy in 2024 — to guide fellow nurses in creating businesses that bring them joy and success.
If you’re ready to take the leap, I’m here for you.
Let’s do this together.
